The Life of Khaelyss Frazier (art on display)

My collage is an experience, as well as an artistic expression. Each layer tells a different part of my life, leading to the final layer. The seran wrap represents the somewhat "force-field" that I used to put up so that no one can judge me, or even try to walk a day in my shoes (in this case look through each layer of my life). Now that I have matured, I realized that a person cannot continue to hold everything in. Therefore the hand represents me pushing at the force-field, in order to open up and live life to the fullest.

Edgar Degas

Edgar Degas was a french artist who automatically caught my attention because he focused on these sculptures that he made about ballerinas. They were bronze and beautiful, and he was also known for his great ability to do impressionism. I have been doing ballet since I was 3 years old, and I appreciate his simplicity when it came to showing each ballerinas gracefulness. Not only because I am a dancer, but because I am also a lover of art. Edgar Degas was a master of movement which is why he was so fond of dance, daily routines, and expression. I picked him to be my artist because not only did he inspire me already, but because I can never get bored by looking at his work. It's like watching a movie and realizing something new in each scene, no matter how matter times you have seen the movie. His work is so devine, and I feel as though he has paved the way for artist today, when it comes to showing movement, facial expressions, psychological issues and human isolation.

COLLAGE!

My identity collage was so much fun. One minute it looked one way and the next it looked totally different! Every layer had symbolism and each layer has a different meaning. This project was supposed to be about ourselves, and i made it about my life and all the things I been through. Because that is what makes me who I am.

METAL!!

I have been working with metal with my art class for 3 years now and every year I feel as though my talents have expanded. I got the hang of working with metal and now I am able to make each piece flow together when I join them to make one whole piece. We are using our piece as a closure for our books and I am going to incorporate my piece to make it compliment my book.

PORTRAIT :)

I exceeded my own expectations with my portrait. At first the inking process changed it because most of my paint rinsed off, but when i brought it home and worked on it in ma own atmosphere, the transformation process was amazing. It turned out to be extremely realistic. This was a great example to never give up.
